An Open Letter To Pediatricians

Dear Colleague:

The U.S. Public Health Service is asking for your help and support in the fight against AIDS.

October is AIDS Awareness and Prevention Month. It will be marked by a wide variety of educational and informational activities. For example, Department of Health and Human Services Secretary Otis R. Bowen, M.D., has written to the governor of every state, as well as to college and university presidents, to urge their support for specific AIDS education initiatives.

What we are asking of you is simple. Please join us during the month of October in working to increase awareness and knowledge about AIDS. You can help get the facts to your community on how AIDS is — and is not — spread, how it can be prevented, and how each of us can show understanding and compassion toward people with AIDS and others infected by the AIDS virus.
