Brain death guidelines

New guidelines from a task force established by the American Academy of Neurology outline physical examination criteria and offer age-specific standards for determining brain death in children.

The 10-member task force included representatives from the American Academy of Neurology, the American Neurological Association, the American Academy of Pediatrics and the Child Neurology Society. It also included liaisons from the American Bar Association and the National Institute of Neurological, Communicative Diseases and Stroke.
