"How beautiful is youth! How bright it gleams..."

Longfellow's soaring tribute to youth belies today's tragic paradox in adolescent health care: In spite of our remarkable medical achievements, adolescents are the only segment of the population whose health status has not improved in the past 30 years.

The AMA, just like the Academy, has long been concerned about the welfare of our children and adolescents. After looking closely at the health problems facing our young people, we decided it was time to do something to improve the situation. So, the AMA is creating an unprecedented national coalition to squarely address adolescent health problems.
