AAP members are being asked to participate in a new national initiative aimed at reducing childhood exposure to tobacco smoke. Titled "There's a baby in the house, please don't smoke," the initiative is sponsored by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). AAP officials reviewed the initiative's materials that will be distributed to pediatricians in an upcoming mailing. In part, "Baby in the house" will be publicized by posters, print advertisements and AAP-sponsored public service advertisements to 900 television stations. However, the initiative's main thrust is directed toward health care providers.
