USA for Africa helps fund int'l health program

The Academy recently received a $16,480 grant from the United Support of Artists for Africa (USA for Africa) to fund a new program that will identify ways to link the nation's pediatricians with counterparts in other countries to improve international child health.

AAP Executive Director James E. Strain, M.D., said the USA for Africa grant will partially support the development of a new AAP Office of International Child Health.

"The primary objective of this initiative will be educaton, specifically sharing the achievements of state-of-the-art pediatrics with practitioners and pediatric educators in other countries, especially those in Africa," Dr. Strain said.
