The most important step in selling a practice is making the decision to sell, said a Colorado pediatrician who recently sold his solo practice in a shared expense group. So what's the second step? "Getting a fair price," he said. "The problem is most people don't sell their practice for enough money, They're willing to sell it for pennies on the dollar," David Anderson, M.D., FAAP, told AAP News. (Dr. Anderson is an alias. Although he sold his practice in November, the buyer won't join him on site until July. Dr. Anderson didn't want to risk having his patients learn about the upcoming change ahead of time, thereby putting the buyer at a disadvantage.)
