Founding member of Academy, former district leader dies

Abraham B. Schwartz, M.D., FAAP, a founding member of the Academy, died on Dec. 19, 1986 in Milwaukee. He was 95.

A pediatrician who treated three generations of Milwaukee children, Dr. Schwartz served as chairman of what once was called the AAP Midwest District and the Wisconsin Chapter, and was active as a Fellow for many years.

Born in Macon, Ga., Dr. Schwartz graduated in 1911 from the Atlanta College of Physicians and Surgeons, now a part of Emory University. He completed his residency at Children's Memorial Hospital in Chicago, under Henry Helmholz, M.D.
