Many pediatricians are concerned about the nuclear arms race and the danger it poses to the future of world survival. Several pediatricians have gone a step further: They've broken the law in order to call public attention to the threat of nuclear disaster. Seven pediatricians and more than 100 other U.S. citizens were arrested Sept. 30, 1986, for crossing onto federal property during a demonstration at the Nevada Nuclear Test Site in Las Vegas. The protest was sponsored by the American Public Health Association (APHA), with guidance from the American Peace Test.
