Lead poisoning

At the urging of AAP California chapters and other state health organizations, the California legislature recently passed a bill to reestablish the Childhood Lead Poisoning Prevention Program.

Until 1981, California boasted an extensive lead poisoning prevention program staffed with a physician, public health nurses, health educators, chemists, sanitarians and support staff. The program was scrapped six years ago when legislators decided a lead poisoning danger no longer existed.
