Preparing for the press

New national spokesperson Jay Berkelhamer, M.D., (left) gets grilled in a mock television interview by media trainer Lou Williams (right). Dr. Berkelhamer, a pediatrician at the University of Chicago School of Medicine, and AAP Vice President Richard Narkewicz, M.D., participated in an intensive one-day media training session recently at AAP headquarters. These sessions help AAP leaders convey Academy initiatives and positions concisely and accurately when interviewed by national media.
