Pertussis vaccine test results will be released soon

The initial results on the safety and efficacy testing of acellular pertussis vaccines should be released this winter, according to an official from the national Centers for Disease Control(CDC).

If successful, this new type of pertussis vaccine could replace the one used now.

Studies are being done in the United States and other countries on acellular pertussis vaccines, said Alan Hinman, M.D., FAAP, director of the CDC Division of Immunization.
