Conference to explore issues in juvenile justice

Pediatricians have the opportunity to explore new trends in correctional health care at a national conference to be held in Washington, D.C., just prior to the AAP Annual Meeting.

"The 10th National Conference on Correctional Health Care" will conduct 35 workshops in three days — Oct. 30 through Nov. 1 — on a variety of subjects, including juvenile issues.

Differences in the health service needs of male and female youths entering a juvenile detention center, as well as legal advocacy for youths and psychiatric disturbance in detained juveniles will be addressed. Also, a roundtable discussion on juvenile corrections will be featured.
