North Carolina recently became the first state to approve a mandatory no-fault compensation system for vaccine-related injuries. At the urging of the AAP North Carolina Chapter, the state legislature passed a law requiring North Carolina residents thought to be permanently injured by a state-mandated vaccine to file a claim with the state Industrial Commission for damages. According to the new law, which takes effect Oct. 1, the Industrial Commission will review cases and decide whether claimants have been injured by vaccines.
