Perinatal section marks 25 years of progress

Neonatologists can point to a 57 percent decline in infant mortality over the last 25 years, along with many other improved outcomes for newborns, as the AAP Section on Perinatal Pediatrics celebrates its 25th anniversary.

"It's quite striking that outcomes have improved so much in terms of survival," said Ann Stark, M.D., FAAP, section chair and clinical director of newborn medicine at Children's Hospital and Medical Center, Boston.
