'Liberal foolishness' decried

Tom Malinich M.D., FAAP1

1 Springfield, Ill.

I found Dr. Joel Alpert's letter concerning a need for gun control appallingly biased, and I hope this letter stirs up some concern from other members as to the liberal slant of the Academy.

To use the tragedy in Littleton, Colo., as a way to preach the anti-gun message is a misuse of the office of president of the Academy. Not all pediatricians are anti-gun, and I am sure there are many doctors who actively support the NRA (National Rifle Association). I sincerely hope being a "good liberal" will not become a litmus test for AAP membership!
