Medicaid reimbursement disparity hits kids hard

A new, state-by-state AAP report — with harsh implications for children from low-income families — shows Medicaid reimbursement falls far below that for Medicare. One state, however, is battling this disparity with new legislation.

Services provided under Medicaid are reimbursed at 20 percent to 50 percent less than the same services provided under Medicare, according to the report, Medicaid Reimbursement Rates by State — 1998/1999.
