AAP News Vol. 15 No. 5 May 1999, p. 4 © 1999 American Academy of Pediatrics
As pediatric health practitioners, AAP members know better than anyone the frustration of prescribing drugs that have not been labeled for use in children. A recent federal law, the Food and Drug Administration Modernization Act (FDAMA), addresses this problem, but the law could be halted before it is ever fully implemented. The generic drug industry has filed a lawsuit to stop the pediatric drug label rule of FDAMA in its tracks, but the Academy is fighting for the provision's survival.
