Pediatricians are concerned about their professional survival. What initiatives should the Academy undertake under your leadership to address their concerns? Steve Berman, M.D. "Practicing pediatrics isn't fun anymore." It's the refrain we're hearing more and more frequently from our fellow pediatricians. But why exactly are we frustrated with practice? Our professional survival is more closely related to responding to this question than other concerns such as the role of nurse practitioners and family physicians. I believe there are five main reasons for our discontent.
