Immunization information network counters media, legislative attacks

To counteract a rush of anti-vaccine rhetoric and state-level legislative attacks, the Academy has become a partner in the National Immunization Information Network (NIIN).

"It is the ultimate irony that as we celebrate the prevention of epidemics of diseases that just a few generations ago sent fears through the community — meningitis, polio, diphtheria, congenital rubella, measles — we must also acknowledge the growing misconception that vaccines cause more harm than good," stated Louis W. Sullivan, M.D., co-chair of NIIN and president of the Morehouse School of Medicine.
