Surgeon General stresses collaboration

To continue to promote the health of children in the 21st century, the nation needs "a balanced community health system" with all levels working together, said U.S. Surgeon General David Satcher, M.D., Ph.D., in his plenary address at the AAP Annual Meeting in October.

Dr. Satcher called for a partnership between public health and medicine, one that involves the community — from the home, school, church and criminal justice department — supported by a balanced research agenda.
