Pediatric drug studies part of new FDA chief's agenda

On Oct. 21, Jane E. Henney, M.D., was confirmed as the new commissioner of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and is the first woman to hold that position. In a statement following her confirmation, Henney stated that her top priority as commissioner would be to implement the FDA Modernization Act (FDAMA), which includes provisions for pediatric drug studies. The Academy supported her nomination.
