Q&A We are a small pediatric office, in an area that was mostly fee-for-service until two years ago. Recently, one of the managed care plans with whom we have a contract sent us a letter stating that it was undergoing National Committee on Quality Assurance (NCQA) accreditation and would be coming into our office to see if we are providing its patients with health care that met standards defined in the Health Plan Employer Data and Information Set, or HEDIS 3.0. What is NCQA accreditation? What are the HEDIS standards? What elements of our office will be examined during the visit? How can the Academy help us understand this, and does the Academy have representation in the NCQA?
