Doctors are not corn. And no matter how the media paints a federal experiment to help New York hospitals reduce the number of residents trained there, comparing such financial incentives to federal farm subsidies is simply not accurate, according to Louis Cooper, M.D., FAAP, AAP District II chairperson. "New York should be applauded for recognizing the major forces battering the American medical system," said Dr. Cooper, pediatrics director at St. Luke's-Roosevelt Hospital Center and pediatrics professor at Columbia University, both in New York City. He called the New York project "a very creative effort."
