Vaccine-associated paralytic polio still a concern: CDC

Even though the health care community continues to make strides toward eradication of vaccine-associated paralytic poliomyelitis (VAPP), pediatricians should not take for granted the potential for new cases, cautions the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

Increased awareness among pediatricians that paralytic poliomyelitis may still occur in the United States is essential for achieving and documenting eradication of all cases of paralytic polio, the agency said.
