Physicians show a lack of consensus on the appropriate management of concussions in sports, a national survey revealed. Researchers surveyed 269 members of the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine, two-thirds of whom work as team physicians. Subjects were given the following scenario: a soccer player is injured in the head. His neurologic exam is normal, and he has no previous head injuries. He remains conscious, but is confused and experiences 10 minutes of amnesia. Results showed:
