Family conflict could be associated with slow growth up to age 7, British researchers suggested. Researchers reviewed height measurements of 6,574 English children at age 7 years. Family conflict questionnaires were administered by a health visitor to assess domestic tension, divorce, separation or desertion, social class and overcrowded housing. Results showed 299 children had been exposed to family conflict by age 7 years, with 31 percent of them falling in the bottom fifth of the height distribution compared to 20 percent who did not experience family conflict.
