As managed care changes the way health care services are delivered, pediatricians and their office staffs are challenged to identify ways to ensure their patients have access to the care they need. Ensuring that children with special needs receive services that is, providing a medical home for these children can be particularly challenging. To help guide the process, the Academy is developing an interdisciplinary training program in collaboration with children's hospitals, parents of children with special needs and representatives of private and public child health agencies nationwide.
