Male high school athletes are 1.5 times more likely to chew tobacco and snuff than their nonathletic counterparts, according to a Louisiana study. Subjects included 1,200 male high school students who answered questionnaires on tobacco use and sports involvement. Of high school males tested, 41 percent used one or more tobacco products, while 11 percent used all three products including cigarettes, chewing tobacco and snuf.
