Candidates address pediatric education of the future

The National Nominating Committee has named Joel J. Alpert, M.D., and Leonard A. Kutnik, M.D., candidates for AAP vice president. The winner of the election, held next spring, will take office during the 1997 Annual Meeting and ultimately serve as 1998-99 AAP President. In this third installment of election coverage, each candidate answers the question:

• Considering that the Pediatric Residency Review Committee (RRC) stated that a minimum of 50 percent of clinical training should be devoted to ambulatory experiences, and considering the new demands of managed care, how do you see pediatric education of the future; how do you see it financed; and what should be the Academy's role?
