Government reviews Medicare RBRVS fee schedule

AAP Division of Physician Payment Systems

The Health Care Financing Administration (HCFA) is mandated by law to perform a review of the Medicare Resource-Based Relative Value Scale (RBRVS) physician-fee schedule every five years.

This review is intended to correct any anomalies in the Medicare RBRVS fee schedule that might have developed in the process of adding, deleting or modifying CPT (Current Procedural Terminology) codes and their relative value units (RVUs) that define the RBRVS.
