Pediatricians work to halt violent incidents: CATCH helps counter abuse and neglect

Abuse and neglect have become big threats to the welfare of children. During Child Health Month in October, the Community Access to Child Health (CATCH) program focuses on this important problem.

CATCH, an AAP grass-roots effort, supports access to care at the local level and emphasizes the pediatrician as a major force in providing child health care in the United States. In each state, a pediatrician has been appointed to serve as the local consultant or "facilitator" to provide other pediatricians with examples of successful community-based programs and techniques for improving access to health care.
