Clinton reform bill approaches AAP ideals

Betty A. Lowe M.D.1

1 President, American Academy of Pediatrics

Dear Mr. President:

The American Academy of Pediatrics is pleased to lend enthusiastic support to the health care initiative offered by the Health Security Act of 1993. Not since the Reform Era of the early 20th Century has legislation been introduced that incorporates significant elements that address the pressing needs of today's children and their families. We believe that this strong child-centered base is a critical piece of the debate as it moves forward on reforming this nation's health care system.
