NCHS seeks survey topics

The National Center for Health Statistics is asking Academy members to submit suggestions for topics to be covered in the third National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES III).

NHANES III will measure and monitor the health and nutritional stats of the U.S. population, and will run for a two-year period be ginning in 1988. About 20,000 persons aged from 6 months to 74 years will undergo a three-hour examination consisting of questionnaires, biochemical measurements, and medical procedures. The center also may establish a prospective cohort study within the survey.
