Media tour positions Academy as source on child health issues

A recent two-day New York media tour kicked off the Academy's efforts to strengthen its role with the national media as the premier organization representing children's health and safety issues. Representing the AAP on the June 11-12 tour were Drs. Robert J. Haggerty, Lillian M. Beard and Henry Harris, who visited 16 different print and broadcast media outlets.

The publications and broadcast organizations contacted included The New York Times, ABC-TV's "20/20, ABC-TV's "Nightline", NBC-TV's "Today Show", PBS' "McNeil-Lehrer NewsHour", United Press International, Woman's Day, Newsweek, Essence, Sesame Street Magazine, Ladies' Home Joumnal, Good Housekeeping, Life, Redbook, McCall's, Forbes and Health-Check — a special health supplement to The New York Times.
