Options outlined as medicine faces "hurricane of change"

A hurricane begins gradually. The skies darken, the wind rises, driving rain falls. Only those who have known the power of a hurricane will know what these warning signs portend. Only those who heed these warning signs will escape the fury of the storm.

In 1985, American medicine faces a hurricane of change. None of us can accurately measure in advance its destructive force. No one can perceive the full significance of the storm warnings surrounding us. Anxiety is mounting. Uncertainty grows.
