Much of the Academy's work, both tangible and intangible, is done by its committees. Members frequently ask how they can be appointed to committees, or suggest that a new committee be formed. Understanding how AAP committees work will be useful to those of you with such questions. The purpose of committees Committees focus the expertise of our members on important issues. They examine existing policies, and develop new policy statements and programs to guide the Executive Board, membership and staff, as well as to inform the public about children's health issues.
