The Hospital de Clinicas of the University of Buenos Aires Medical School in Argentina houses 20 beds for children younger than 2 years and 30 beds for older children. In the neonatalogy section, there are 30 cribs for newborns and 20 cribs for newborns requiring neonatal intensive care. The hospital also features a modern adult intensive care unit (ICU). Although the Hospital de Clinicas operates in a capital city of nearly 4 million people and treats children who are undernourished, dehydrated and sufferring from diarrhea, gastroenteritis, sepsis, renal and respiratory problems, it lacks an ICU for children aged 1 to 10 years.
