Infectious disease experts to discuss various topics at course

The upcoming AAP continuing medical education course on infectious diseases will combine discussions of "hot topics" in a setting ideal for cold-weather activities.

Set for Jan. 9-12 in Vail, Colo., and featuring a dynamic faculty from the United States and Canada, the course will review common and serious infectious pediatric diseases.

Philip Brunell, M.D., FAAP, chairman of the AAP Committee on Infectious Diseases, will discuss infections in day care centers. In addition, he'll speak about pertussis and varicella and lead a general workshop on vaccines. Dr. Brunell is professor and chairman of the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Texas Health Sciences Center in San Antonio.
