Dr. Strain receives 1985 Grulee award

Honoring his contributions to the Academy in numerous capacities over the years, the 1985 Clifford G. Grulee Award was presented during the Annual Meeting to James E. Strain, M.D., FAAP.

Dr. Strain, who served as 1982-83 AAP president, has been a private practitioner since 1950. In addition, he is director of genetic services at the Denver Children's Hospital in Colorado.

Before his term as president, he held a number of Academy leadership positions. He was first elected to the AAP Executive Board in 1975 and went on to become vice president and president-elect in 1981.
