In an effort to reassure parents, the Academy announced last month during the Annual Meeting that most children and adolescents infected with AIDS and AIDS-related diseases should be allowed to attend school in an unrestricted manner. Of the more than 13,500 cases of AIDS reported, none are known to have been transmitted in a school, day care or foster care setting. About 204 cases have been reported in children, mid-October figures show.
