Smith to be installed as AAP president

Martin H. Smith, M.D., a private practitioner for 34 years in Gainesville, Ga., will be installed as 1985 - 86 AAP president during the Annual Meeting this month in San Antonio.

$PADr. Smith, current AAP president-elect, succeeds 1984-85 AAP President Robert J. Haggerty, M.D. In turn, Dr. Haggerty will be named Past President.

A frequent spokesman for vaccine injury compensation legislation, Dr. Smith has served in a variety of AAP leadership positions, including: District IV chairman and alternate chairman; chairman of the Council on Pediatric Practice; chairman of the Finance Committee; and chairman of the Georgia Chapter.
